When disputes arise, early technical intervention can often prevent costly and time‑consuming litigation. INS provides structured, evidence‑based mediation and dispute resolution services, grounded in independent technical assessment.
In mediation, it is the parties themselves who propose and agree on a solution. Unlike an arbitrator or judge, the mediator does not impose a decision or act as a referee. Instead, the mediator facilitates the process by engaging with the parties—both separately and jointly—to help them reach a mutually acceptable outcome supported by all sides.
Mediation typically suspends legal proceedings, either temporarily or permanently. The process is confidential, and information disclosed during mediation cannot be used in subsequent legal actions. A mediation agreement is always established prior to commencement.

Arbitration : The arbiter can be appointed in the contract or afterward being appointed by the parties a judge or an authority. In general parties agree that the outcome of arbitration (this in contrast to mediation) is final and binding.
In the case of a Technical Dispute Resolution this is often to assist one of the involved parties or their insurance. It can be that each parties has their own technical and juridical advisors. Or if a court appoint a juridical expert or arbiter is nominated for the case some or all parties have their own technical expert to follow the case and protect the interests of the principal.
